Keystroke Point of Sale Help

Configuration Manager - Menus - Hardware Menu - Cash Drawer - The Machine/Drawer/Till Relationship

A Machine may have one or more Drawers assigned to it. A Drawer may be assigned to one or more Machines. A Drawer may have one or more Tills assigned to it. Tills are not assigned directly to Machines. A Till may be assigned to one or more Drawers. A Till may have one or more Clerks assigned to it. Clerks are not assigned directly to Drawers or Machines. A Clerk may be assigned to one, and only one, Till.

The Machine / Drawer / Till combination determines which Clerks may log on to a given workstation, which Drawer will open when a particular Clerk rings up a sale, and to which Till the sale is credited.

A Machine Number is assigned to a physical computer using the MNUM=RNUM Startup Switch. Machine Numbers are assigned to Drawers using the Cash Drawer setup screen. Till Numbers are assigned to a Machine/Drawer combination using the Cash Drawer setup screen. Till Numbers may be reassigned to Drawers later using the Till Assignments By Drawer function in the Database Manager. Till Numbers are assigned to Clerks using the Till Assignments To Clerks function in the Database Manager.

Keystroke tracks Register Number as it always has. They do not have any effect on Machine, Drawer, or Till Numbers. Machine and Drawer Numbers do not have any direct effect on Register Numbers. However, Register Number is replaced with the Clerk's Till Number, unless the Till Number or the Drawer Number is 0. The Register field is still be labeled Register, even if it has been replaced by the Till Number.
