Database Manager - Location Database

The Location Database is used to manage information about Inventory Locations. Each location record includes two screens: Main Screen, Custom Data Screen. Locations are used to group similar Inventory Items and can be used to identify "sub Category" groupings for even deeper grouping capabilities. Or, if a third sub-grouping level is not required, Location can be used to identify a completely separate and different grouping method (such as the physical location of the groups of items within the store).

A Location record should be created for each location grouping. Special attention should be paid to the Script field. The Script field is used to attach a Location Script (an Inventory record with a Script(s)) that will run when any item in the Location is entered on a transaction. If the item's Location has a Script, Keystroke will use it, but not the Category and/or Department Scripts (Keystroke will only use a Department Script if the item's Location and Category do not have Scripts).

Special attention should be paid to the Minimum Age field. Minimum Age is the Customer's minimum age required to purchase items in the Category. If the item's Department and/or Category or Location also have a Minimum Age, Keystroke will use the highest age.

To assign an item to a Location, select the item's Location field from the Inventory Main Screen and press [Ins] to choose the Location from the Look Up List. Press [F10] to save the change to the Inventory record.

Location Examples:

- Department 02 / Category D / Location LS= Baseball
- Department 02 / Category D / Location LK= Basketball
- Department 02 / Category D / Location LC= Soccer

There are 2 Location Database Screens (use the Database screen buttons in the lower right or press [F9] to navigate through the screens):
