Configuration Manager - Printers - Ports - File

Video Screenshot
The Printer Port - File is used to save transaction information to a file on the computer (or network computer).

On the Output Port screen, enter the name of the file (with optional path) to which to save the output. The file name and path must be in standard Windows format. Keystroke supports long file names.

The file name may contain the ampersand ("&") character which is a token that is replaced with the full Transaction Number, including the sub-letter if one exists.

In addition to just the single ampersand, a letter code between 2 ampersands may be used to specify additional tokens to be replaced. Only tokens that the document type has defined can be used.

Additional Port setting tokens currently available include:

&C& which is replaced with the Customer Number.
&V& which is replaced with the Vendor Number.
&#& which is replaced with the Transaction Number only (no sub-letter).
%M which is replaced by Machine Number.
%R which is replaced by Register Number.
%D which is replaced by Current Date (in YYMMDD format).
%T which is replaced by Current Time (in HHMMSS format, 24 hour).

If just a file name is entered in the File Name: setting, the file is saved in the Keystroke installation folder. Include a file path to save the file elsewhere (i.e. C:\Keystroke\PDF\Receipt&.TXT).

The File Port may also be used to send the output to a Shared Network Printer.

Examples:

File Name Output Result
Receipt.TXT Saves Receipt.TXT in the Keystroke installation folder.
C:\Temp\Receipt.TXT Saves Receipt.TXT in the TEMP folder on the C: drive.
SalesReceipt.TXT Saves SalesReceipt.TXT in the Keystroke installation folder.
LPT1. Prints to Printer Port LPT1:.
\\Register1\Epson Prints to the shared network printer: \\Register1\Epson.

Append Mode - adds new output to the end of the existing file. When enabled, the output is added to the end of the file (the file grows every time the output is sent). When disabled, the file is overwritten by the new output (The file consists only of the most recent output).

Warn if File Exists - prompts the Clerk to acknowledge that the file will be overwritten before proceeding when Append Mode is disabled.
