Stock Number CheckSum Examples

The following examples show how the Stock Number CheckSum Line Item Entry Parameter and Add CheckSum digit flag interact. The examples describe what happens when a price tag is printed that includes the Stock Number field and what happens when that Stock Number is entered or scanned on a transaction.

For Stock Number 350:

Add CheckSum digit is OFF and Stock Number CheckSum is OFF:
- Prints 350
- Reads 350
CheckSum calculations are not performed.
The Stock Number is interpreted accurately.
Inaccurate data entry is not prevented.

Add CheckSum digit is ON and Stock Number CheckSum is ON:
- Prints 3507
- Reads 350
CheckSum calculations are performed and the result is compared to the CheckSum digit 7.
The Stock Number is interpreted accurately.
Inaccurate data entry is prevented.

Add CheckSum digit is ON and Stock Number CheckSum is OFF:
- Prints 3507
- Reads 3507
CheckSum calculations are not performed.
The Stock Number is not interpreted accurately.
Accurate data entry is not recognized.

Add CheckSum digit is OFF and Stock Number CheckSum is ON:
- Prints 350
- Reads 35
CheckSum calculations are performed and the result is compared to the CheckSum digit 0.
The Stock Number is not interpreted accurately.
Accurate data entry is not recognized.
