Warning: This flag should be used ONLY with the Inventory Stock Number field, when the Stock Number CheckSum Line Item Entry Parameter is enabled. DO NOT use it under any other circumstances.
The Add CheckSum Digit flag is available for use with Stock Numbers on price tags and reports and is used to detect errors when entering Inventory items by Stock Number.
If the Add CheckSum Digit flag is enabled for the Stock Number field, Keystroke uses the Stock Number to calculate a CheckSum digit and adds that digit at the end of the Stock Number on the price tag (or report).
If the Stock Number CheckSum Line Item Entry Parameter is enabled (in the Sales Manager and/or Purchase Manager), Keystroke assumes that the last digit of the Stock Number is a CheckSum digit and uses the rest of the Stock Number to perform the CheckSum calculation again, comparing the result with the CheckSum digit at the end of the Stock Number that was entered on the transaction screen.
If the Stock Number is entered correctly, the original CheckSum digit and the newly-calculated CheckSum are the same and the entry is accepted.
If the Stock Number is not entered correctly, the two CheckSum digits do not match and Keystroke displays the Invalid Number message and does not accept the entry.
BUT, if the Stock Number CheckSum line Item Entry Parameter is OFF, Keystroke assumes that all of the digits are part of the Stock Number (including the CheckSum digit), so Stock Numbers entered with with CheckSum digits are not recognized.
If the Add CheckSum Digit flag is OFF for the Stock Number field, the Stock Number will be printed without the CheckSum digit.
The Add CheckSum Digit Flag Number is 64. It is enabled by using the Edit Label Form function, on the Stock Number Edit Report Field screen, using the Flags field by pressing [Ins], selecting Add CheckSum Digit from the list of available field flags and pressing [Enter] or [Space] (a check mark appears next to the flag indicating it is enabled).
Note: The Add CheckSum Digit flag may be enabled for the Stock Number Field on reports, but is normally left disabled.
