Database Screens Editor - Field Definition Screen

The Field Definition Screen displays the field settings. Use the Screen Edit Mode, navigate to a field or label, press [Enter] to select it, and press [F3] to display the Field Definition Screen.

Field Settings:

Field Number - Determines the field's position in the tab order.

Field - Press [Enter] to select a field from the list.

Link Field - Press [Ins] to select a Link Field. The Link Field links the field to the appropriate Lookup List.

Security - The Security Level number for the field.

Field Type - Press [Enter] to select a Field Type from the list.

Active - Determines if a field can be edited. On - Data can be edited. Off - Data is displayed, but cannot be edited.

Column - Horizontal position of the (first character of) the field.

Row - Vertical position of the field.

Width - The width (in characters) of the field. Available in all field types except Toggle.

Length - The number of characters that you can enter in the field. Should be at least equal to the Width of the field. Available in Edit, Date, and Time fields.

On Char - The ASCII character to indicate that the field is On. Available in Toggle fileds.

Off Char - The ASCII character to indicate that the field is Off. Available in Toggle fileds.

Dec. Pts. - The number of digits displayed to the right of the decimal. Place a minus sign before the number to eliminate trailing zeroes. Available in Number, Calc, Price, and Money fields.

Flags - Display and user input options. Available in Special Edit fields.

Label Settings:

Field Number - Determines the field's position in the tab order.

HotKey Position - the character position number for the HotKey character.

Alignment - Left, Right, Centered.

Security - The Security Level number for the field.

Flags - Two options: Display in POS Only or Display in Advanced.
