Each record in each of the Databases (Inventory, Customer, Clerk, etc.) contains a Comment field that may be displayed by pressing [Shift]+[Enter]. For example, in the Inventory Database, press [Shift]+[Enter] to display the Comment screen for the current Inventory record. The Database record Comment is an alphanumeric field and may contain a virtually unlimited number of Comments. Press [F10] to close the Comments screen and save any changes. Press [Esc] to close the Comments screen without saving changes.
To enter Comments that are not printed on Forms, place vertical bars "|" (pipe characters, shift and the backslash key) around the Comment section that should not be printed. For example:
"This part is printed on Forms |but this part is not|".
Inventory Database Record Comments:
An Inventory record Comment might be used to store information such as the item's warranty details, installation instructions, or directions for use. Inventory Comments are automatically copied to line items on Sales Transactions if the Sales Copy Inventory Comment Line Item Entry parameter is enabled. Inventory Comments are automatically copied to line items on Purchase Transactions if the Purchasing Copy Inventory Comment Line Item Entry parameter is enabled.
Customer Database Record Comments:
A Customer record Comment might be used to store information such as the customer's interests, preferred brands, etc. Customer Comments are entered, edited and viewed by pressing [Shift]+[Enter] while on the Enter Customer screen or while editing the Customer Database record. Customer Comments may be viewed automatically on the Enter Customer screen by enabling the Display Customer Comment parameter.
Contact Database Record Comments:
A Contact record Comment might be used to store information such as the contact's shipping preferences, delivery instructions, etc. Contact Comments are entered, edited and viewed by pressing [Shift]+[Enter] only while viewing the Contact Database record.
Vendor Database Record Comments:
A Vendor record Comment might be used to store information such as additional sales rep names, special ordering instructions, etc. Vendor Comments are entered, edited and viewed by pressing [Shift]+[Enter] while on the Enter Vendor screen or while editing the Vendor Database record. Vendor Comments may be viewed automatically on the Enter Vendor screen by enabling the Display Vendor Comment parameter.
Clerk Database Record Comments:
A Clerk record Comment might be used to store additional information about the Clerk that doesn't need to be as easily
accessible as the information stored in the Clerk Note field. Clerk Comments are entered, edited and viewed by pressing [Shift]+[Enter] only while viewing the Clerk Database record.
Department Database Record Comments:
A Department record Comment might be used to store additional information about the Department that did not fit into the Department Name field or to store information such as the Categories included in the Department (if the Categories are being used to define "sub-Departments"). Department Comments are entered, edited and viewed by pressing [Shift]+[Enter] only while viewing the Department Database record.
Category Database Record Comments:
A Category record Comment might be used to store additional information about the Category that did not fit into the Category Name field or to store information such as the Locations included in the Category (if the Locations are being used to define "sub-Categories"). Category Comments are entered, edited and viewed by pressing [Shift]+[Enter] only while viewing the Category Database record.
Location Database Record Comments:
A Location record Comment might be used to store additional information about the Location that did not fit into the Location Name field. Location Comments are entered, edited and viewed by pressing [Shift]+[Enter] only while viewing the Location Database record.
Matrix Database Comments:
A Matrix record Comment might be used to store information unique to the Matrix record that would not fit into other Matrix record fields. Matrix Comments are entered, edited and viewed by pressing [Shift]+[Enter] only while viewing the Matrix Database record.
