The Daily Time Window (Happy Hour) setting defines the time of day for which the Price Formula is effective. The Daily Time Window applies to each day within the Date Range settings. It is designed for price specials that repeat every day during a specific time period (such as lunch specials or happy hours discounts). To disable the Time Range, delete the Start and End Time settings which then display as NULL.
When Price Formulas use a Daily Time Window Range, the current system time is used for each item as it is added to the transaction. Items that are added to a transaction while the Time Range is in effect have their prices defined by the Price Formula. Items added before of after the Time Range are not affected by the Price Formula. To give Clerks extra time to finish ringing up items purchased within a specified Time Range, extend the End Time by a few minutes if needed.
If a line item's Price is set by a Formula with a Time Range, its price is not affected by any other change to the transaction involving the Price Table such as changes to the item's Price Code or to the Transaction's Price Table. The Price may still be affected by changes to the transaction that are not based on the Price Table such as bottom line discounts given on the entire transaction.
Note: Once a transaction is saved, the prices on existing items that used the Daily Time Window (Happy Hour) pricing are fixed at the price at which they were saved. If additional quanities of these items need to be added to the transaction, it is recommended to not increase the quantity of the existing line item but rather to add a new line item instead.
