Keystroke Point of Sale Help

Configuration Manager - Menus - Hardware - Cash Drawer - Open Codes

The computer tells the Cash Drawer to open by sending it one or more commands called Open Codes. Each brand of Cash Drawer responds to a different set of Open Codes. Cash Drawers that are connected through receipt printers are wired specifically for the printer. In general, a Cash Drawer that works on an Epson TM printer will not work on a Star printer.

To find the Open Codes setting for the Cash Drawer, check the manufacturer's documentation or contact them.

To enter Cash Drawer Open Codes:

- Select Cash Drawer from the Configuration Manager Hardware menu.

- If using Keystroke with multiple computers, select the Machine Number to be set up.

- Enter the Open Codes for the Cash Drawer or use the Select From List button to choose from a list of known Open Codes.

Open Codes are in the form of numbers, from 0 to 255. Each number represents an ASCII character. Some drawers require only one character, others require several characters. Some Drawers allow you to set the Open Codes using switches on the Drawer. If the Drawer is connected to a receipt printer, the Open Codes are determined by the printer.
