Keystroke Point of Sale Help

Production - Packing Production Run Files

The Pack function should only be used if directed by an Authorized Keystroke Point Of Sale Dealer or by a Specialized Business Solutions technical support specialist.

The Pack function is used to clean up, re-index and re-build Keystroke data files. Records marked deleted cannot be recalled after a Pack has been run. A Pack cannot be run while Keystroke is running on other computers.

The pack function copies the data files (.DAT) to a temporary file (.TMP) and then reads back the records to rebuild the data files. If an error occurs during the pack function, the .TMP file(s) can be copied back to .DAT file(s).

Packing Production Runs rebuilds only the data files in which the Production Runs are stored.

From the File Menu, select Pack Productions.

When prompted, enter a date that corresponds to the file to be packed.

Select OK to pack the displayed filename. Select Cancel to abort the pack.

The current date packs the most recent Production Runs only.

Note: BACKUP DATA FILES BEFORE using the Pack function!
