When Print To is set to File, the file name (with optional file folder location) and file format must be defined for the text file output to be viewed, printed or used in other applications:
File Name:
Enter the name of the file to which the output should be "printed" (saved). An optional file folder path may be entered in front of the file name if necessary. If a file folder path is not included, the file is saved to the Keystroke Software installation folder (C:\Keystroke\ by default). For example, if the Print To - File Name field includes only the file name INVPrice.TXT, then the output is saved to C:\Keystroke\INVPrice.TXT, but if the Print To - File Name field includes C:\PriceTags\INVPrice.TXT, then the output is saved to C:\PriceTags\INVPrice.TXT.
Delimited By (used to select the format for the output file):
None - produces standard text layout for viewing and printing with any word processing or text editing application. For example:
Buffalo Bob's BBQ
Buffalo Bob
3456 Rodeo Road
Quote/Comma - produces file output where the fields are contained within quotes and separated by commas (for use with spreadsheet and database programs). For example:
"Buffalo Bob's BBQ","Buffalo Bob","3456 Rodeo Road"
Tab - produces file output where the fields are separated by tabs (for use with spreadsheet and database programs). For example:
Buffalo Bob's BBQ[TAB]Buffalo Bob[TAB]3456 Rodeo Road (the "[Tab]" portion is not visible. It appears as a space in the actual file output)
Comma Only - produces file output where the fields are separated only by commas (for use with spreadsheet and database programs).
Buffalo Bob's BBQ,Buffalo Bob,3456 Rodeo Road
Do not use the Comma Only format if the output contains commas within the fields unless to intentionally separate the contents of a field into separate fields (by using the commas within the field)
For example, if:
Field 1 contains: Buffalo Bob's BBQ, Buffalo, Bob
the result is:
Field1: Buffalo Bob's BBQ
Field2: Buffalo
Field3: Bob
Note: Use either the Quote/Comma or Tab delimited formats if the output contains commas within the fields.
