Keystroke Point of Sale Help

Configuration Manager - Menus - Settings - Databases - Quick Search In List Boxes

There are two types of list box (Lookup Lists):

Database - Inventory, Customers, Transactions, etc.
Non-database - Payment Types, Security Levels, etc.

The Quick Search in List Boxes parameter changes the way only non-database Lookup Lists work.

There are also two ways to search for items in a list box:

Quick Search - Enter the first few characters of the name. The search uses the entire string of characters that you entered. For example, if DISC is typed, the search finds and highlights the first name that begins with DISC.

Single-character - The search uses only the first character typed. For example, If DISC is typed, the search highlights the first name beginning with D, then it moves to the first name beginning with I, then S, and then C (the search result jumps from one to the next).

Quick Search in List Box allows non-database Lookup Lists to use Quick Search.

To enable Quick Search in List Boxes:

- Select Database from the Configuration Manager Settings menu.

- Select Quick Search in List Boxes with the [Space Bar] or mouse click to mark it with an X.

When enabled, here is how the two types of Lookup List searches work:

Database - Quick Search
Non-database - Quick Search

When disabled, here is how the two types of Lookup List searches work:

Database - Quick Search
Non-database - Single-character
